Reworks will present an amazing line up of Greek music Contemporaries on its 12th edition. From Indie disco and electronic pop, to techno, shoegaze and psychedelic rock the evolution of the Greek sound will be present on Reworks.
Monika is considered as one of the most promising artists that Greece has to offer in this decade. She sings and plays multiple instruments including the piano, guitar, saxophone, accordion, and drums. Through the release of three albums out of which the two became platinum and received critical acclaim in Greece, Monika achieved a perfect admirable artistic progress. With her latest album, which was recorded in New York City titled “Secret in the Dark”, she moved away from the folk singer-songwriter style towards a disco and funk sound, with exceptional results. On her first ever performance on Reworks she will take over to the stage on Thursday September 15th for a show that is likely to crown her as the queen of the modern Hellenic music scene.
The Tendts soundcloud profile describes “Two brothers makin’ music that you can dance to, or not”. It seems an odd phrase, but aptly explains one of the Greek duo’s merits, a duality that allows the best in pop soul electronica to be enjoyed in equal measure, when heard either on the dance floor, or at home. With various releases on labels such as Project:Mooncircle, Lower Parts Christos and Fotis Papadakis celebrate the release of their debut album titled “Cheap Poetry”. And the celebration continues as after their performance at Sonar Barcelona on a stage curated by Reworks it is the time that they perform in Thessaloniki in September.
Fantastikoi Hxoi is the project of Athenian Angelos Baltas. A a re-edit project that draws material mainly from obscure Greek psych and folk tunes, among other global music. Using samples from classic or totally forgotten tracks, FH creates a peculiar retro-futuristic sound through complete reconstruction or a drastic re-edit. One of the most innovative and interesting artists in Greece Fantastikoi Hxoi returns to Reworks presenting alongside his current compositions also a new project titled Dream Weapons.
Electronica and shoegaze are present on the work of the duo Gioumourtzina. Named by the city of Komotini in Turkish, they became known through the release of the track “Russian market”. It is though through “Blakk Metall” their debut album in 2016 that Gioumourtzina take it to the next level.
