Project: Reworks

Lebanon Hanover

No other pairing in the history of Darkwave ever matched the unfettered creativity, resolve, and DIY attitude from the collaboration between the two creative minds that compromise Lebanon Hanover.

The meeting of the Swiss musician Larissa Georgiou, aka Larissa Iceglass and British artist William Maybelline a decade ago in the latter’s hometown of Sunderland in the UK, was a monumental occasion, reverberating throughout the European music scene and even across the Atlantic.

Lebanon Hanover would emerge from the peak of the world-wide minimal wave revival, with their 2011 split 7-inch record with La Fete Triste issued as the catalog debut of Europe’s most ubiquitous Techno-Industrial EBM labels, aufnahme + wiedergabe.

With “Gallow’s Dance” becoming a post-punk anthem for the times, Lebanon Hanover as a live act would expand rapidly in popularity, exceeding capacity during their performances across Europe and the UK.

At the dawn of the global pandemic, where dystopian nightmares that were only ever seen before within the pages of books and flashes of silver screen celluloid, has become a daily reality, a new kind of darkness envelops the world. It was at this Lebanon Hanover returned, sharing a glimmer of hope with the single “The Last Thing,” the duo’s first song from their forthcoming sixth studio album Sci-Fi Sky.

Daria Kolosova

The prime example of Kiev techno scene staying strong. Daria Kolosova’s 12 years of experience as a DJ and her keen passion for the depths of electronic music have transformed into her striking versatility and proficiency as an artist.

After being inspired by Kyiv electronic scene and absorbing the vastness of electronic music genres, Daria sharpens her taste and relocates to Kyiv, where she becomes the resident of Keller under her alias Dar:k and launches a series of parties Materia alongside fellow artist Berchy. After actively being involved in the electronic music scene for some time, Daria starts to use her own name, leaving her Dar:k moniker aside as an experimental project. She began headlining most of Kyiv’s underground nightclubs, played at “Ostrov” festival and “Techno Raczka” in Krakow. Soon after DJ Nastia offered Daria to perform a B2B which led to their first loud debut at Arma17’s birthday party event at Berlin’s “Funkhaus”. The performance prompted their further collaboration, which was followed by a tour in Brazil, performances in “Warung”, Boiler Room at Ibiza’s “Pacha”, “Rex” in Paris, “Fabric” in London, the Resistance party, Neopop Festival, Strichka, and many others. Daria continued to perform as a solo artist and was listed in such lineups like Berlin’s queer party “Mess”, “Tresor”, Seoul’s “Faust”, etc. In 2020 she also became the resident of Nastia’s newly launched record label NECHTO.

Currently, Daria is one of the most actively growing names in the techno scene. She regularly DJs and one can witness her performances at Kyiv’s ∄, Brussel’s “Fuse”, London’s “Fold”, Awakenings, Glitch, Ickra, Tantsa, and ADE. Daria also recently played a set for Boiler Room at Drugstore club. Her DJ set at Berlin’s famous Hör radio station hits 900 thousand views, and she is currently preparing for a tour in the US and Australia.

As a DJ, Daria never aims to deliver what is expected of her, but rather tries to convey her personal narratives through music. Daria sees music as the most genuine method of communication, empathy and unity – a tool that helps her transform her distinctive energy into a story that can be shared with people on the dance floor. She desires to not only provide a danceable and enjoyable set but inspire and introduce people to something fresh and daring. Daria bases her style on hard and groovy techno, which she frequently mixes with breakbeat, electro, hardcore, or jungle, which always makes her performances unexpected and rich in genres.

Momery forms a partnership between the conception of memory and music. It is an attempt to connect images with ideas, emotions and sensations. Through the externalisation of our ideas this project became our reality.

Ben Klock

Having become a Berghain resident in 2005, Ben Klock has since established himself at the forefront of Berlin’s modern Techno movement, an ever-present symbol of the city’s vast musical landscape.

Ben Klock is one of the most celebrated and popular acts at reworks who still holds the all-time record of appearances. Each one of them is an uncontested highlight in the 17 years history of the festival.

His artistic integrity and consistency has formed the backdrop to his success, providing an invaluable platform that has allowed him to become one of the most in-demand DJ-producers of the current generation. Those who have witnessed him perform will note not only the diversity in his track selection, but also his ability to create a room rather than just play in it. Though intense and powerful, his DJ output reflects a certain kind of fervour, capturing an artistry and emotion that can often appear absent from the Techno genre. He also possesses a wonderful understanding of how to adapt his music to the circumstances, a competence that means he can be found at both large-scale festivals and small intimate club settings around the world.

We are eager to welcome one of the leading figures in modern techno who shaped the underground movement as few have. Let’s dance!

Each KAS:ST track is a journey that combines dark and melancholy feelings while never losing sight of the partying element of techno. KAS:ST consistently pushes the boundaries of techno music, fusing it with unusual and avant-garde styles.

Each track they release is a journey bringing together dark and melancholic emotions without ever losing touch with the clubbing aspect of techno. A varied and always praised discography followed, with diverse releases on different renowned labels (Afterlife, Concrete Music, A.R.T.S, Materia…).

In 2019 they launched their new project Road To Nowhere spurred on as ever by their will to break codes and to think outside the box. The album synthesized the duo’s broad creative range: industrial techno, drum and bass, trap, symphonic tracks… It was a key moment in their career. Thanks to a unique and innovative format, as they released one track a month during a whole year outside of the usual channels of the techno scene, KAS:ST were able to unveil their full potential. The LP was extremely well received on streaming platforms: +20M plays across all, including the iconic Hell On Earth music video.

Hold Me To The Light, one of the flagship tracks of the EP, once again emphasized the duo’s will to renew techno codes by working this time with the London based singer Be No Rain. KAS:ST never ceased to push their music’s boundaries during that very prolific year, their tracks

getting remixes, for instance, by renowned artists at the polar opposite of the techno sphere like 999999999 and Tale Of Us, as long as an unexpected collaboration with Kerri Chandler or a powerful remix of Moby’s new album.

When you think of someone who’s made a show-stunning impact on the world of melodic techno, your thoughts should immediately go to Innellea. The German producer and creative visionary has already been known as a master of all musical trades.

Innellea – a neologism; created in reference to musical reinvention. Neither restrained nor bound by conventions, Innellea’s visions and impressions are visibly transferred into music.

The Munich-based live act, DJ and producer combines melancholic, cinematic soundscapes and a distinct, percussive touch in his unique and abstract sound. The result is an intimate listening experience which hovers between melodic introspection and explosive, post-apocalyptic club music.

He took the scene by storm in 2019, leaving a dusty cloud in his wake. Innellea was first a secret weapon for some of the techno scene’s leading DJs, before his music was released via Afterlife, Innervisions and Diynamic. From then on, Innellea’s colourful and intricate rhythms captivated crowds worldwide. Tracks like ‘Vigilans’, ‘Forced to Bend’ and ‘The World Returns’ are good examples of the bold musical statements which define the project. From the success of his releases came live sets and a wealth of unreleased tracks, creating a global hype around his name. Innellea continues to rewrite the rulebook with each release and live performance.

Whenever in need of driving spheres, impulsive vibes and touches of genuine feeling, Innellea’s music will be there. Just in time to broaden your mindset.

Ison / ‘Iσον means equal in Greek language, an important word sharing a necessary ethos for Anastasios Diolatzis. Working behind and in front of the scene for two decades, Ison is regarded as one of the most influential faces in the Greek contemporary scene today.

Founding member of the NON collective, and various other concept event series, Radio host and music co-producer of Actor One, Ison is also one of the key DJ selectors bringing his electronic eclecticism constantly back home having played more than 2000 shows till today.  His unswerving and extreme passion for music enables him to maintain his status as one of the hardest working people of the country’s electronic scene, celebrating 22 years in the business. Few people manage to remain credible and engaged with the domestic underground over such a long period of time, but thanks to his devotion to his city and its scene, Ison is here to stay.

Present at Reworks since day 1, there is nobody better than him to round things up on Saturday. If you have listened and danced to one of his marathon 8-hour sets you will certainly get what his concept ”electronic music for the body and soul” really stands for.

Alpha Sect

Hailing from Thessaloniki, Greece, Alpha Sect is a project of George McCall, which is focused on breaking electro patterns and pumping body music with serious punk influences.

He started his music career as a guitarist in the post-metal band Sleepstream with 2 albums on their track record and he is an active musician with participations in physical theatre performances with his side-project.

With already 4 cassette EP releases on prominent labels such as OSM Tapes (GRE), Kein Rauch Ohne Feuer (DE), Pildoras Tapes (COL) & Forkha (BRA) , Alpha Sect strikes back with a vinyl release on Soil Records (ESP) and has also signed two more vinyls on two major Spanish labels that are to be released in 2022/2023. Andreas Athineos

Andreas Athineos is an excellent example of the younger generation of Greek electronic DJs.

Born and raised in Thessaloniki his sound could be described as a mixture of soulful house and tech-house, with its origins ranging from classic house. Today he is one of the most busy DJs in the city performing constantly on the Thessaloniki’s top spots as well as all around the country.  On his return to Reworks festival, he’ll showcase his beautiful emotional House sound fused with disco.

Adriatique have traced a remarkable trajectory through the underground, making a name for themselves among house and techno’s most globally recognized acts.

Adrian Shala and Adrian Schweizer have carved out a career as one of the most consistent and distinctive DJ/producer duos in the house and techno scene.

Music-wise, their various tastes combine into one unique sound, and their respective preference for studio work and performance means that both aspects are equally well covered. Adriatique’s DJ sets as well as their productions are long, meditative, relentlessly building affairs, ever challenging the listener with subtle twists to a hypnotic groove. There is much more to the duo than just a well-oiled electronic music machine, however. They also live together, draw plans together, and support art in all its forms together.

They have founded their very own record label and platform for the arts,  called Siamese. Their imprint releases their own music as well as productions by others, as long as it adheres to the Adrians’ creed: that music should be meditation. Going above and beyond the average for a label, Siamese also supports visual and performance artists, organizing club nights that place these collaborators in the spotlights just as much as the musical stars.

Alongside releasing their music through Siamese, Adriatique are signed to leading labels Diynamic and Afterlife. The former, Solomun’s label and event series, has long been a home for Adriatique, whilst Afterlife is a more recent venture. Tale Of Us’ label released their single ‘Ray’ and the road to ‘Nude’ began. Adriatique’s debut LP is their most personal artist statement yet, a collection of songs, feelings and memories which stand out in the Afterlife catalogue. The title, ‘Nude’, refers to another side of Adriatique being uncovered on the album. The duo prove themselves to be as adept at creating beautiful, melodic songs as they are driving club beats.

Drawing from their own experience as strangers turned fulltime partners, Adrian and Adrian know that it is the bridging of differences that breeds creativity. This is why, in the future, they plan on expanding their network of collaborators as well as the creative scope of Adriatique and Siamese’s activities. They may be a decade in the business, but Adriatique’s true mission has only just begun.
