Sportsmanship Vs Hooliganism: Who will prevail?

  • Date:
    Saturday 1 June
  • Time:
    15:30 – 16:30

Sports violence in and out of stadiums is a timeless and global phenomenon. Since 1980 a gradual increase in incidents was observed in terms of context and intensity. The more frequent occurrence of incidents during and after the matches, combined with serious or even fatal injuries of fans and non-fans, brings to the foreground the sociological dimension of the phenomenon. Therefore this issue must be addressed, not only in terms of organized crime but as a pathogenesis of the evolution of the social fabric.

Club representatives, athletes, criminologists and sports workers discuss sports violence and its causes, the role of ultras and sports organizations in violence and how to deal with it.
