Panos Charitos


Panagiotis (Panos) Charitos is a Greek journalist. He was born in 1969 in Athens and began his career as a columnist for “Eleftherotypia” and later for “Thachydromos” magazine. He was distinguished as a war correspondent covering the war in Chechnya and the Georgian-Abkhazian conflicts of 1995, the civil war in Zaire (today’s Democratic Republic of Congo) in 1996, while in 1997 he was a correspondent of the Athens News Agency in Albania during the serious political and social crisis caused by the financial scandal with the pyramids (ponzi scheme). In 2000 he covered conflicts in the Middle East and has covered all major military events from the Intifada to the Arab Spring. With the re-opening of ERT, he was chosen to present the central news bulletin of ERT, on 11 June 2015.

Today he is presenting the main newscast on Kontra Channel.
