DATEWednesday, Aug 20

From its very first day, reworks moves across the city, filling Thessaloniki with music from one place to another, building bridges between areas, cultures, and experiences. The connection between sound and space lies at the core of the festival’s identity, as reworks carefully selects unique venues each year, turning them into part of its storytelling.
For its 21st edition, reworks once again unfolds across beloved locations — from the city’s eastern side to its western gate — shaping an experience where sound meets space and Thessaloniki transforms into a living stage of music and culture.
The venues of reworks 2025 are:
📍 Kivernio (Palataki)

📆 Wednesday 24 September – Opening Day
📆 Thursday 25 September
Kιvernio (Palataki – Royal Palace) is a landmark neoclassical mansion located at the cape of Karabournaki in Kalamaria, Thessaloniki. Designed in the 1950s by architect I. Christopoulos, it stands as one of the city’s most emblematic buildings, offering a panoramic view of the Thermaic Gulf and the skyline of Thessaloniki.
Although the Royal Palace is not normally open to the public, it has hosted some of the most memorable editions of reworks, reworks agora and preworks, creating unforgettable cultural moments. In 2025, reworks returns once again to the courtyard of this historic location, presenting a series of unique performances that will combine the grandeur of the venue with cutting-edge music.
The yard of Kyvernio will host reworks by day on Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 of September 2025.
Practical Info
-
Arrival: Due to the high attendance expected, we strongly recommend arriving early to avoid delays at entry and to support all artists from the very beginning.
-
Location: Kyvernio is situated in Kalamaria. We advise the use of taxis or public transport (bus), as there is no parking space nearby.
-
Payments: POS terminals accepting credit cards will be available at all sales points. However, due to limited 4G/5G coverage in the area, there may be occasional disruptions in electronic payments. It is therefore highly recommended to carry cash with you in order to avoid delays.

The former slaughterhouse of Thessaloniki was built in 1896 and operated until 1988. It is located in the industrial area of the city, next to the commercial section of the port. In 1994 the building was declared a protected monument. Recently the old industrial building was transformed into a cultural multi-space, also known as “L’ abattoir”.
In 1994, the building was designated a preserved monument by the Ministry of Culture, as it is a prime example of early 20th-century industrial architecture.
Labattoir has become one of the most characteristic venues of reworks, transforming the city’s former municipal slaughterhouse into a hub of contemporary culture and sound. With its industrial character and unique atmosphere, it will once again host unforgettable performances. This year, Labattoir will feature two stages, offering diverse experiences and an expanded musical journey throughout the day.
